BOWELS OF THE EARTH – Medium Size – Limited Edition – 1 of 6
Size: 20,7 X 27,6 inches
One of my purposes when I was going to visit Kamchatka was to take shots at the field of petrified lava at the foot of Tolbachik volcano. The last eruption of this huge stratovolcano was in 2012 ( hope I will be able to take shots in the next one) and now the lava flow is petrified in many crazy textures, formations and patterns that remind me of the bowel. It’s really funny to think that this is really the bowel of the Earth that came outside of the volcano, in a metaphorical sense.
This picture was taken almost at sunset, when the sun was illuminating the lava flow; I took so many different pictures of the Tolbachik volcano with many different foregrounds and this is my favorite one.
